Tides Illustrated

Yesterday I mentioned that our cement docks float.  I thought you might like a visual of what that means.
Here's Dave standing next to the pylon at the head of the dock as we were headed out on our last walk last night at 8:40 pm.
Here he and Simon are standing in the same spot at 1:28 pm today.

That means the tide dropped after the first picture, then rose, then dropped again for the second picture.  With that kind of movement you'd think we'd hear a great sucking and blowing but we don't notice it much at all until it's time to walk up the ramp.  We have a pylon right next to our cockpit too.  So I could spend the day watching us rise and fall next to it.  I just haven't had the time to do that yet.  Seems like a worthy expenditure of time though.

Today I worked through the morning with business stuff while Dave worked on boat stuff.  Then we took a post office break.  We have a mail box with Medford Mailbox and they collect our mail and forward it to us when we call.  So today we went to the post office here to collect our mail from general delivery.  Then we drove through Taco Bell and took our burritos to a spot where we could look out over Guemes Channel.  Guemes Island is the island just north of us (we're on Fidalgo Island).  They have this little ferry that takes all of seven minutes to transport people and cars across the channel
We haven't visited Guemes Island.  Yet.

Otherwise it's been a quiet day here.  We're just waiting for a favorable weather forecast at this point to make the big move out of the slip.

Meanwhile here's your minute of zen from Rotary Park.
