Hope

This morning while I walked Simon I passed a bench in Rotary Park that had a flat stone sitting on it.  It caught my eye so I walked up next to it on my way by.  On the top of the stone someone had painted the word "Dream".

Sweet.

That's an important word in our vocabulary aboard Asilo.  I remember Dave's dad Cliff once told me when I was telling him some of the far-fetched things we'd like to do - "Don't stop dreaming.  Everything you do starts out as a dream."  That stuck.

I made a note to come back and take a picture.

Then as we walked back to the marina we passed this round picnic table we pass every day.  For several days it had a woman's shoe set in the middle.  Today it had another flat rock
Cool huh?
The bronze plaque under the rock is a map of the San Juan Islands.  Somebody's out there spreading good energy.  That's hope in action.

Unfortunately the "Dream" rock was gone.  But that's kind of the nature of dreams, right?  You have to work to keep them in sight.

Dave was headed up the dock this afternoon and a couple passing asked him if he had a boat in the marina.  They are building a house in Anacortes and want to buy a boat but don't know where to start.  Simon and I came up on this scene and introduced ourselves.  Kevin and Susan have a very definite accent so I said "And you just moved here from...?" expecting to hear someplace in Australia.
"Indianapolis."
Oh.
By way of England.
Okay, that makes sense.  We invited them back to the boat and answered questions.  They are a lovely couple and we look forward to taking them out for a sail to help them along the way as they decide what type of boat they want.

We were going to go out for an actual sail today.  The weather was perfect!  But Simon had a sudden bout of lower intestinal distress as we were preparing to leave, so we decided to stay close in case there were any other sudden shore calls.  Fortunately he was fine after the one quick trip up the dock.

Tomorrow promises to be even lovelier, so hopefully we'll have a sailing report for you within 24 hours.

Til then, we wish you all hope for your dreams.
