Lots of swelling on the back of his hand, but that should go away now that he can move it around a bit.
Sort of.
We got it redressed and were off to the Farmer's Market with Heidi & Laura. A great market it is too. Some day we'll actually buy something there!Afterwards we came back to the boat where Heidi got me set up with Skype on my phone so I can video call folks. We practiced with Penny. Very cool, except we had issues we attribute to the brutish trawler folks who have taken over the marina this weekend and usurped the broadband. Stay tuned, I'm sure we'll get this working. Meanwhile Laura and Dave opened up the engine compartment (yeah that was five feet away). Dave was so thrilled to learn a whole manual worth of info in one short lesson. And then they were gone. We missed them within five minutes.
So I decided to treat myself to a long hot shower. I have been using the same stall since we've been here. Today I was going to treat myself to the luxury of the handicap shower. Yep, I got in there, put my quarters in place, lined up my shampoo, conditioner, face cleanser, body wash, scrubby, clean clothes, towel. I got undressed and went to drop a quarter so I could get the water heating. And the coin slot was jammed. The knob wouldn't turn. It wasn't gonna happen. No doubt somebody tried using one of those forbidden Canadian quarters. I'm sure it wasn't a Canadian, because they are far too polite and compliant. Nope some American idiot with a Canadian quarter left me standing there naked with my turquoise flip-flops desperately trying to torque the knob so I could take a spacious shower. So I wrapped my towel around myself and moved all my stuff into one of the small stalls. You can bet I checked the damn coin slot first. As I will from now on. Other than that, it was a lovely prolonged hot shower.
Meanwhile Dave was back on the boat watching 12 bald eagles circle over the marina. Pretty amazing.
As the day wore on Dave's hand swelling went down. This evening he took off the bandages on the the other two fingers to let them get a bit of air
Frankenhand.
As I write this we are in the cockpit enjoying some Sheryl Crow on the stereo and the beautiful surroundings. Steve the security guy just walked down the dock behind ours and as he approached a sailboat a dog started howling. Obviously the dog loves him from the sounds it was making. Pretty cute. He's a good guy. Nice to have him watching out for us.
Not a bad view.
So we're about to go inside and watch a video and try out our new speakers. We live an exciting life. Well actually, it's just perfect for us.
Wait we just heard an eagle chuckling. Guess we'll stay out a bit longer.
Hope you all have a fun Saturday night too!

No eagles here today, but we did see a robin. The Medford Police made a visit across the street, and the lady 4 houses down and I compared hip replacements. Life goes on in Medford, but we do miss you. Sounds like you are having a great time, except for the sewer, and Dave's fall. Keep the blog coming!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rod! Robins are good! How is that hip working out?
DeleteWe've got the turtle doves singing here! Tell Dave, as Monty Pyhton would say, "Ah, tis but a flesh would"! Glad he's on the mend. Looks beautiful up there. Wish we could come up and look at the trawlers. Take and enjoy the dream.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya guys!!
Andy & Carol
LOL Andy. The ER doctor said "It's just a flesh wound" too. Which launched us all into a Monty Python conversation. The night crew in the ER had just watched it a few nights earlier.
