And it's a good thing because the Mom's arrived today! Yeah! Even Ma Nature was happy about it because the sun came out smiled on us. We got to visit with our sailing Mom's, Heidi & Laura. Today is Laura's birthday, so all the more to celebrate. We had a great lunch at The Brown Lantern and then walked down the street to the Marine Hardware and Supply. This is an old style marine hardware store with the old wooden floors and all kinds of treasures tucked into dark corners.
When we were buying sanitation hose for the Kraken we found the best price here. The guy takes you out the back door of the store where there are wooden ramps going to various truck trailers. We went to the hose trailer. Obviously.
However today H & L were in search of a little nylon bushing for the throttle control assembly for their beautiful Pacific Seacraft Dana. The company who made this assembly was absorbed many years ago by another company that apparently doesn't have a clue. But in Anacortes there are places where you can go and find someone who not only has a clue, but knows the history of the thing. And they can at least drag you to the spot in their business where you should look. In Marine Hardware & Supply that is the used gear room. This room has rows of bins of boat bits and pieces, all sorted so like parts are together. Unfortunately they didn't have it. The next stop was North Harbor Diesel. The guy there knew exactly what they were talking about, but didn't think he had it. However after a time Heidi spotted a full assembly that they negotiated a somewhat fair price on. So after a couple more stops we convened in the cockpit of Asilo to see if the precious part was actually present and in good condition within the bowels of this assembly they had procured. Lo and behold they scored!
It's in there somewhere.
Or course that called for a REAL celebration. (Thank you Carol & Andy)
Yep that's Dave's claw in the background.
Then it was time to go over to the Trawler Fest side of the marina to see what was shaking. Lots of big beautiful boats to be seen. It was after show hours, but the big cocktail social was in full swing. Yeah, we walked down the quiet dock. By then Simon had had it. So he got to nap in the pick up while we went and had a little liquid refreshment. We're just far enough north that it stays lighter a bit longer here in the evenings. On the walk back to our boat it was a bit before 9pm when I took this picture
Okay, and this one.
So we had a lovely day all around. And we get to do more tomorrow!
I just wish we could get Simon to be comfortable on the boat...
